All you slope fashionistas out there looking for a bit of glam whilst swooshing down the slopes are in for a real treat during the upcoming season 2011/12. Yes, ski season 2011/12 celebrates all that is glitter and glam combining fashion forward styles with innovative technology to ensure you are slopestyle savvy on both the practical and poser fronts!
Skiers and snowboarders will be shimmering and shining down the slopes with a full range of metallic, shiny and shimmering fabrics being used in next seasons collections. The Obermeyer collection for 2011/12 epitomises the latest trends in their Minx collection that includes the famous snow satin fabric. For those out there wanting as much of a metallic sheen as possible then the Obermeyer’s Metallic Anthracite with its brushed metallic finish and texture is fantastic at picking up the light. Obermeyer also combines their leading Cocona technology in their latest high-end jackets that combines vertical striation and natural fibres with a 10k/35k waterproof and breathable rating.
For those wanting their ski gear to have the latest technology whilst also being environmentally friendly then Patagonia is a well known brand that combines the two. Sixty percent of the Patagonia technical line has been updated this year with their Primo Jacket being their new product made entirely from 100 percent recycled nylon from Gortex. Patagonia are an extremely green brand, encouraging their customers to send their old Patagonia products back to the company, where they repair any damaged items and donate them to environmental groups or second hand store.
Loud colours and bold patterns and prints also look to be the style flavour of the slopes for season 2011/12 with brands such as Special Blend, Burton, Forum and Burton Analog tipping their design hats to the trend.
So the word on the streets is that the style on the slopes is going to be out there, in your face and glam – go forth and shop!
